Unraveling the Pattern

Before we dive into the crochet process, familiarize yourself with the abbreviations and notes that will guide you along the way:

  • Ch(s) – chain(s)
  • St(s) – stitch(es)
  • Rep – repeat
  • Sk – skip
  • FSC – foundation single crochet
  • DC – double crochet
  • SC – single crochet
  • YO – yarn over
  • FO – fasten off

Now, let’s create something extraordinary together!

Pattern Instructions:

Row 1 – Start by either foundation single crocheting (FSC) 17 stitches or chaining 18 stitches and single crocheting (SC) in the second chain from the hook and each chain across (17 stitches).

Row 2 – Turn your work, chain 2, double crochet (DC) in the first stitch and each stitch across (17 stitches).

Rows 3-10 – Repeat row 2.

Fold your work in half so that the first and last rows meet. Stitch or single crochet across to sew the ends together. You can choose to continue this process all around the rectangle to create firmer ends for the bows.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

To create the middle band, follow these steps:

Row 1 – Foundation single crochet (FSC) 10 stitches or chain 11 stitches and single crochet (SC) in the second chain from the hook and each chain across (10 stitches). Note: The first row should be as long as the width of your bow tie. Adjust accordingly if needed.

Row 2 – Turn your work, chain 1, single crochet (SC) in the first stitch and each stitch across (10 stitches).

Rows 3-4 – Repeat row 2. You can repeat row 2 an additional 2-3 times if you prefer a wider middle band.
